3 Service Brakes problem of the 2020 Chevrolet Trax
Failure Date: 01/19/2023
This is the 5th time my car has broken down with this problem, the brakes lock up on the highway and the "stabilitrak" service light comes on. (suspension) this time there was a gasoline tanker right behind me. If this man hadn't been such an experienced tanker driver, I would now be a bloody spot on the highway, my kids would be without their mom, my husband widowed and my grandchildren would have to be happy just hearing stories about me. I would be in the local grave yard, six feet under. So far, I have had a new fuse block, master cylinder, coil pack with plugs, abs module, pressure valve and a new brake switch. That was as of 2 weeks ago, my car broke down again last night, as reported above. My car, which I just made a payment of $635. 00, and is just now at 51,000 miles is less than 3 years old. I am truly afraid to drive it, I don't know who to contact at Chevrolet or GMC there has to be some kind of recourse or are they not able to fix the brakes on a car???.

4 Service Brakes problem of the 2020 Chevrolet Trax
Failure Date: 01/12/2023
This is the either 5th or 6th complaint for this vehicle. I am making after almost 6 months, most of which my car has been in the dealership. The brakes locked up in the parking lot at my bank, I noticed the signs that it was about to lock up and pulled into the parking lot before it threw a code. I was in fact on the phone with the dealership when it happened. They sent their tow truck and as of today the car has now been in their possession for 3 weeks. I got a call from the dealership telling me they are replacing the brake booster. This car now has over 2,700. 00 in new parts, this doesn't count the labor cost. This includes, coil pack, plugs, master cylinder, fuse box, abs module and related pressure valve and brake switch. The manager said they are running out of ideas and parts to replace. When I asked him what happens if this still doesn't fix it, he said that that situation was to unheard of to consider. I pointed out that if the dealership can't find the problem then GMC needs to step up because I still have 3 years left to pay for this car and that eventually there either have already been others who've died or there will be in the future, because unless this car is defective, it can't be the only one like this. I wonder how many people have died from this and it just wasn't caught that this problem caused it. I also explained that my next step would be to find a lawyer.
5 Service Brakes problem of the 2020 Chevrolet Trax
Failure Date: 12/29/2022
This is the second complaint I have filed, but it is the 3rd time my car has been at the dealership for the same thing. The brakes lock up without warning and the traction control error light and stabilitrak error light come on. This time the transmission didn't go into limp mode it just shut down. The 1st repair, dealership told me that it was a corroded fuse block. I paid to repair that. The day the car was released back to me, it broke down, required towing 3 miles after I left the dealership. I towed it back. They said they couldn't find problem, I told them to drive exact same route, they did, it locked up again. Mechanic then said the master cylinder was binding up on the inside and it was replaced. Six weeks later it failed the same way again, had it towed. Dealership said it was the abs module and a valve, replaced those. They put a rush on it as it was right before christmas, two days after christmas it broke down again. It is currently at the dealership, and I was told that they can't figure out what's wrong with it????? each time it has locked up, I have been in traffic, once doing 70 mph highway, once doing 60 mph highway I managed to pull off but then blocked an on ramp to a bridge on a highway, once going uphill in town at 35 mph. Each time I narrowly missed hitting other people and once almost got run over by a gasoline tanker. In any of these events I could have either died or killed someone else. Each time there was no warning at all, no lights, noises or anything. Even if I get my car back, I will be terrified to drive it. My husband said, and I quote, "I will bleed through my eyes before I buy another chevy" end quote. My local dealership is doing everything they can, but I am getting frustrated, because sometimes they have a loaner car and sometimes they don't. I work two jobs, since my husband got sick with covid-19 last year and spent 10 days on a ventilator. He can't work like he used to, so I am picking up the slack, please help us.
6 Service Brakes problem of the 2020 Chevrolet Trax
Failure Date: 09/15/2022
This is the 3rd time this has happened in our vehicle, my second complaint here. I was driving on the interstate at posted limit of 60 when brakes began locking up on me. I got it off to the side of the road, I thought my car was going to flip over the brakes locked down so hard. Service stabilitrak light came on, abs light and traction control light came on. I called the dealership who told me onstar provided the stabilitrak code for it. They told me it would be 160 to have it hooked up to diagnostics, that if it isn't covered by warranty it is a customer assumed cost. My husband replaced the ignition coil and spark plugs thinking that it was the problem, well over 200. 00 for parts. The car is now doing the same thing, but I noticed it happened an incline, then realized it happened the 1st and 2nd time on a decline. I am now wondering if the transmission isn't going out at 47,363 odometer miles. The dealership is no help, they have the actual codes but won't provide them or tell me what's wrong. All I know is that for a 25,000 k car, it's dangerous. I am lucky I was able to maintain control of the vehicle on an interstate highway.
7 Service Brakes problem of the 2020 Chevrolet Trax
Failure Date: 09/15/2022
My car brakes locked down while I was driving home from work, at 70 mph, posted speed limit. I got it to the dealership, it started out that it was a broken wire, now they tell me I need a new fuse box and it's not covered. My car was purchased in may of 2020 and has 47k miles on it. The repairs have gone from 412. 00 dollars, not including the tow bill to 719. 00 dollars, not including the tow bill. A fuse box shorting out at two years old, and locking down the brakes is absurd. I work at a trucking company and have 40+ years experience with no tickets or accidents, I don't know how my car didn't flip forward it stopped so hard, it's hard to think about what would have happened to someone with less driving experience than I have trying to control a car in the same instance. Please check on this, if you need to know, my car is now at don hall Chevrolet in ashland ky, ph. 606-618-9616, my car is in their service center.
8 Service Brakes problem of the 2018 Chevrolet Trax
Failure Date: 09/01/2022
Approximately one week ago, I went to reverse out of my drive way and my brakes were very hard. I was able to stop ok, but it took more effort than normal. That day, while in traffic, the “service brake assist” indicator came on my dashboard. This went away after I went into class and then started my Trax and began driving again. The indicator did not reappear until about two days later. I parked in my driveway and that next morning I reversed out like usual and I had to put every bit of my 158lbs on the brake. I drove very slowly and then tried reversing. The brakes were fine. The next night I was driving home and someone cut me off. I had zero brakes. I had to drive off the road to avoid a collision. I came less than a foot from slamming into the vehicle in front of me. I managed to miss most of the curb but ended up hitting the curb with my right rear tire (a chunk of the tire is now missing). Once the vehicle has been driven for a brief period of time there aren’t severe problems with the brakes (while in reverse). Overall the vehicle has significantly less braking power and requires maximum force from me to completely stop. The “service brake assist” light/indicator comes on sporadically and I have gone to a parts store three separate times for a scan but they say when the indicator is not active it may not trigger a read out. One of the stores said I needed to take it to a dealership but I do not have the money for that as I am a single mother in college. Tonight I parked differently so that I could mow the lawn and when I reversed into the driveway (at an incline), a “hill assist” indicator flashed very briefly. My vehicle currently has 36,859 miles, of which I have personally driven 30,259 miles. All maintenance is done as it should be at proper times.

9 Service Brakes problem of the 2020 Chevrolet Trax
Failure Date: 08/22/2022
My husband and I were leaving a local grocery store, when we began backing up and the "hillside assist" light came on for a 5% or so incline. So after backing up, we pulled out of the parking spot and our brakes began locking up, this continued all the way home (about 3 miles). The error msg, "service stabilitrak" came on when we were pulling into our driveway. We called the dealer where we purchased it because we have less than 48000 miles on it and they said that we may have repairs covered under the power train. However, stabilitrak is not part of the power train, I guess he didn't think I would know that. So we hung up, and did a little forum research and found out we would have to reset the computer to make it "unlock" the brakes. We unhooked the battery for half an hour and reset the computer and it worked, our car is running fine now. My husband was a truck driver for a decade, he knows how to drive in potentially risky situations. However, I think it should be investigated because of the potential safety risk. Since we were doing 25 mph or less this was easily handled for a short distance. However, this would be catastrophic if someone were on the highway when this happened. It could easily cause an accident at any speed. Anyone with less skill than a seasoned truck driver, could be killed if this happened to them. Please investigate this matter.
10 Service Brakes problem of the 2021 Chevrolet Trax
Failure Date: 08/06/2021
1,992 miles. Two times when applying brakes hard the vehicle pulled hard to the right. Both times I narrowly avoided hitting the vehicle in front of me. I went to the service department they did a test drive and were unable to duplicate the issue. They checked the brake pads and rotors and stated all look normal. In addition they did a multi-point inspection. 6,253 miles. Again applying brakes hard the vehicle pulled hard right. Days later the brakes were spongy and then that lead up to the brakes going to the floor board. I went to the service department where they did a test drive and found that they were going to the floor board. They ran a diagnostic check and found the master cylinder were causing concern. They installed sl-n-cylinder kit (04649-95414) and n-fluid (08800-bopckt) they replaced brake master cylinder and reset the operation. Lop=2440100 l=1. 10 l=0. 50 to bleed system. They did a multi-point inspection. They indicated caused by scheduled maintenance. With all incidents no warning lights were showing.

11 Service Brakes problem of the 2018 Chevrolet Trax
Failure Date: 07/16/2021
My car always randomly doesn’t want to speed up. All the lights turn in and constantly tells me service power steering and brakes drive with care. It says something about electrical. I have taken it to chevy they tell me they don’t know what is wrong with my car. They charged me 350$ to fix something they thought it was but it wasn’t it because my car still does the same thing. It will even stop telling me how fast I’m going.

16 Service Brakes problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Trax
Failure Date: 10/02/2020
I purchased a new 2017 Trax on July 15, 2017. Since I got the car I heard a squeak from the rear brakes. I took it back to the dealer and they told me that it is a new car and the squeal will go away. It did not go away. I have taken the car to the dealer 5 times and they keep telling me the rear brakes are ok. I want the dealer to inspect the rear breaks and fix it. Also I want the left- and right-front lower-control arms, inspect and replacing them as necessary to prevent a fatal accident. My car only has 29, 600 miles. Since I bought it, I have taken the car to the dealer with the same problem. All records for my car are in the dealer.

23 Service Brakes problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Trax
Failure Date: 09/02/2019
I've received two notices from gm, once that has an actual recall. Both notices were received after my 2017 Trax had been taken to the dealership for check-ups/repairs because of presenting symptoms of both issues of the notices/recall. The first being an evaporaive emissions purge valve that may not fully close, causing the engine to run cold, hesitate or stall at idle speeds. I experienced idling and jerking when my car was in lower gears, jerking so badly, with running in high rpms. I did not know if I would make it home and had to drive with my hazards on. This was experienced on sept. 2, 2019 (labor day) and I had my car towed from my parking garage to the dealership on sept. 4th, 2019. They could not replicate the problem or address it and were not aware of the notice gm had sent out. They did find a tear in some arm on the vehicle, caused by a defective ball bearing which was replaced but unrelated to why it was there. Late October, I experienced other issues with clicking on my breaking system, with my stabilitrack and check engine lights turning on, but then off when I went in reverse. At this time, I knew about the recall (# a192261870) and brought my car back in on Nov. 1, 2019. Again they couldn't "replicate" the issue, but inspected the car with regards to the recall and returned it with no immediate resolution. They ordered a speed-control part and all the recall parts. It's now December 4 and they still do not have the replacement control arms & the bolts that go with them (page Chevrolet service dept; alexandria, va 22312; 703-349-4011. My vehicle continues to have braking/idling/spudering issues on occasion, it is not constant. I have had to call regularly to get updates, and have attempted to call Chevrolet's customer assistance center to open an inquiry but am getting the run around of rover a month. I do not consider this timely.

As of today they state they do not have the part. Why can't they get the part?.
25 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Chevrolet Trax
Failure Date: 06/22/2019
While on the highway, my truck went hard right while my steering wheel was in straight position. I asked my passenger did you feel that . They said yes . It was very scary and happens very sporadic. Also the brakes seem to be some timey with stopping efficiently, like you either stop too quick or not fast enough. I'm not sure why my VIN has not appeared in this recall when clearly my vehicle has the same issues and within the make model and year.

27 Service Brakes problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Trax
Failure Date: 01/21/2019
First problem with my Trax 2017 was when my elementary school kid pulled the seat belt to snap her booster seat and it never rolled back. Stays stretched and doesn't retract. I thought it was not a big deal and moved her on the other side. Yesterday I got the engine light on and my car just slowed down for no reason. I was already scared and wondering if it is safe to drive with the kids on the back but was on the middle of the road with no place to pull over so I kept going but my car would no go over 30mph. 5 minutes later it got better. I am taking it to the dealership tomorrow but its over an hour away and don't even know if I should drive or have it towed.

31 Service Brakes problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Trax
Failure Date: 06/20/2016
My mom purchased a 2016 chevy Trax for me at Chevrolet of homewood, 18033 s. Halsted, homewood, IL on 6/13/16 under her name. Within the 1st week of purchase the brakes began squeaking while in motion. After the 2nd week the brakes began squeaking loudly as onlookers responded to the noise they say were coming from the back brakes. I took the car to Chevrolet of homewood on July 7, 2016 for brake inspection. Service test drove the vehicle, heard the noise from brakes but said it was normal. On 7/10/16, the brakes were squeaking so badly I took my car to firestone on elston & addison in chicago, for a vehicle inspection. Firestone noted the brakes were squeaking & told me to take the Trax back to the dealer as the brakes were squeaking all the time. I emailed ceo mary barra on 7/22/16 to complain & she set me up with antoinette baker under case# 8-2249264993, who worked with me until 7/27/16, & without notice turned me on to gm's legal nicole rodella. On 10/27/16 @ 11:03am nicole rodella, called to inform me that gm was gathering information from dealer to determine my claim & she would call me in a few days. On 11/15/16, nicole called telling me she needed an affidavit from my mom to further discuss my complaint. I asked to speak to her supervisor. Gm's ms. Barber (supv. ) told me my mom needed to sign an affidavit for them to deal with me the complaint, although both names are on gm's paperwork. I sent barber dealer paperwork with both names of me and mom, & barbara said that was not enough on 11/15/16. Barber told me she would have nichole get paperwork from dealer & call me back on 11/16/16 & never did. I called barber back on 11/16/16, left message & she has not responded. Attached is sound of brakes. I am requesting to be put in a new vehicle or that gm pay off Trax immediately.
